University of Delaware Lacrosse Teams Earn High Marks in Final NCAA Statistical Rankings |

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- The University of Delaware men’s and women’s
lacrosse teams, both of which advanced to the Colonial Athletic
Association Tournament semifinals earlier this spring, earned high marks
in the final 2008 statistics released by the NCAA.
The Delaware men, who posted a 9-7 record under 30th-year head coach Bob
Shillinglaw, ranked in the top 25 in five different team categories,
finishing No. 10 in scoring offense (10.81 goals per game), No. 14 in
man-up offense (37.9 percent success rate), No. 17 in average scoring
margin (1.38 goals per game), No. 23 in faceoff winning percentage (51
percent), and No. 25 in winning percentage (56.3 percent).
The Blue Hen women, who went 11-6 for the second straight season under
fifth-year head coach Kim Ciarrocca, had four top 30 rankings, finishing
No. 24 in winning percentage (64.7 percent), No. 24 in draw controls
(12.82 per game), No. 26 in scoring offense (12.29 goals per game), and
No. 30 in scoring margin (1.47 goals per game).
Individually, Blue Hen players ranked in the top 50 in six men’s
categories and five women’s categories.
For the Delaware men, sophomore All-American Curtis Dickson ranked No. 5
in goals (2.88 per game) and No. 9 in points (3.81 per game), senior Cam
Howard was 22nd in assists (1.56 per game) and No. 34 in points (2.94
per game), All-CAA sophomore Martin Cahill was 46th in goals (1.81 per
game), freshman Anthony Ruiz was 26th in faceoff winning pct. (52.2
percent), and All-CAA senior goalkeeper Tom Scherr ranked No. 14 in save
percentage (58.4 percent) and No. 33 in goals allowed average (9.37 per
game).
On the women’s side, All-CAA sophomore Emily Schaknowski ranked No. 28
in assists per game (1.59), All-CAA senior Casey McCrudden was No. 39 in
goals per game (2.53), and All-CAA junior goalkeeper Jessica Cerveny
finished No. 27 in saves per game (9.0), No. 33 in save percentage (46.1
percent), and No. 36 in goals allowed average (10.89).
