Brian Asher '08, Reed Deluca '08 and Coach Lars Tiffany Selected To North-South Senior All-Star Game

Providence, RI - Brown senior defenseman Reed Deluca (New Canaan, CT) and senior midfielder Brian Asher (Chevy Chase, MD) have been selected to play for the North Team at the 67th Annual USILA North/South Senior All-Star Games, taking place at Harvard Stadium on Friday May 23rd as part of a triple-header. In addition, Brown head coach Lars Tiffany has been named the assistant coach for the North Team. The Division III game will be played at 2:00 p.m. and the Division I/II game will be played at 4:00 p.m., followed by the Boston Cannons game vs. the Rochester Rattlers at 7:00 p.m.

A first team All-Ivy and All-New England selection for Brown's Ivy League Champion lacrosse team (11-3 overall, 5-1 Ivy), Deluca played an integral role in Brown's defense allowing just 6.79 goals per game, fourth best in the nation.

A long stick defenseman who is usually matched up against the opponents top attackman, Deluca was the backbone of the Bears' defense that allowed just 95 goals for the season, 11 less goals than any other Ivy team.

Asher has been an outstanding captain for the Brown Lacrosse program, and has been a role model for competitive spirit and genuine commitment. He tied for the team lead with 32 ground balls, and scored a goal for the Bears.

Tiffany, the New England Coach of the Year, has come full circle, playing in the prestigious game as a senior at Brown in 1990, and now coaching the North squad in the annual senior all-star game. Tiffany took over the Brown program two years ago and transformed a team that was winless in the Ivy League in 2006 into the top team in the Ivy League, capturing the Ivy League title this season with a 5-1 league mark. Tiffany's 2008 Brown team posted an 11-3 record, earning the most wins at Brown since 1994.
