Bucknell's Austin Winter Named Honorable Mention Lax All-American |

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore attackman Austin Winter (Boonton Twp., N.J./Mountain Lakes), the Patriot League leader in points and assists per game for the second year in a row, earned Honorable Mention All-America honors, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association announced Monday.
The first Bison player to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors as both a freshman and sophomore, Winter tallied 19 goals and 33 assists for 52 points this spring. His 2.20 assists per game ranked No. 2 in the nation, trailing only First Team All-American Matt Danowski of Duke. Winter also ranked first in the Patriot League and 18th in Division I lacrosse with 3.47 points per game.
Winter’s 33 assists are tied for fifth-most in a season in Bucknell history, and his 52 points rank 11th on the school’s single-season chart. His 62 career assists already rank seventh on Bucknell’s career list.
The 6'4" attackman has a point in every game in his career, and in 2008 he had multiple points in 13 of 15 games. He registered a career-high nine points on three goals and six assists in a 12-10 win over Towson, and he also had six-point games against Ohio State, Lehigh and Army. In the Patriot League Tournament semifinals, Winter scored a goal and tied the tournament record with five assists in an 8-7 win over Army.
Winter is Bucknell’s 19th All-American in men’s lacrosse, and the first since Chris Cara earned third team honors in 2005.
The Bison finished the season with a 10-5 record, falling to Colgate in the Patriot League championship game.
