Team Notes
DELAWARE (2-0 overall): No. 14 Delaware is off to a 2-0 start with wins at
Saint Joseph's (18-10) and over No. 18 UMBC (15-7). Vincent Giordano scored
a career-high five goals to pace the Blue Hens against over SJU, while
Curtis Dickson tallied five goals - all in the first half - leading to the
win over UMBC. Delaware will end a streak of eight-straight games away from
Newark, Del., when it hosts Marist in its home opener Feb. 23, at 1 p.m.
Head coach Bob Shillinglaw (266-233) , now in his 30th season at UD and 33rd
season overall, will coach his 500th career game Saturday, becoming only the
second coach in NCAA lacrosse history to reach the mark. Cam Howard, back
after missing all but two games in 2007, had two goals and five assists in
the win over UMBC. Howard now has 149 points and needs one more to become
only the 12th player in UD history to reach 150 career points. Howard's 84
career assists also rank fifth all-time at Delaware. Tom Scherr now has 396
career saves and needs four more to become just the eighth Blue Hen to reach
400.
DREXEL (0-1 overall): With No. 3 Virginia up at intermission, 6-5, in the
both teams' season-opener, Colin Ambler scored an unassisted goal in the
opening minutes of the second half to knot the score. Drexel got the crowd
behind them early with the first two goals of the game -- Andrew Chapman
scored at 8:08 and just two minutes later, Chris O'Connor scored off a feed
from Ambler. Drexel goalkeeper Bruce Bickford again played well in the cage
against Virginia, making 15 saves. A year ago Bickford made 18 saves in the
Dragons' victory in Charlottesville, Va. Virginia outshot Drexel, 40-35, and
had the same margin in ground balls. Drexel won the face-off battle with the
Cavaliers, 12-10. Sophomore Zak Fisher was 6-for-8 on draws for Drexel. The
Dragons, ranked 18th in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Poll, will travel to Penn
this weekend for a 1 p.m., contest Saturday, Feb. 23.

players including eight starters from last year's young Hofstra squad. That

leading scorer, Tom Dooley, who recorded 26 goals and 28 points. Midfielder

solid 7.21 goals against average and a .563 save percentage in 14 games last
year. The Pride, No. 17 in the USILA Poll, open their 2008 season Feb. 23 at
1 p.m. on the road against Massachusetts.

it took on Division II and crosstown rival Seton Hill on Feb. 9 at Joe

Morris turned the tables and unleashed a 15-goal run en route to a 16-2
victory. With a 1-0 record in hand, the Colonials traveled to Penn State to
take on the Nittany Lions. Penn State scored early and often as they handed
RMU an 18-2 setback at Holuba Hall in State College, Pa. Andrew Watt paced
the offense with a five point performance, tallying three goals and two
assists against Seton Hill. Rob Marasti and Michael Fleming tallied both

against Presbyterian at 1 p.m. Back from last season is All-CAA Rookie
selection Evan Morgan, who notched 13 goals and 11 assists in his inaugural
collegiate season. Also returning is All-CAA Second Teamer Brett McGlensey,
who was a 2008 Honorable Mention Preseason All-America honoree by Inside
Lacrosse. The West Chester, Pa., native started all 12 games in 2007 and

13th-ranked Tigers will begin the 2008 campaign at home against Loyola
College at 1 p.m., on WMAR-TV in Baltimore and via tape delay on ESPNU. The
game will mark the 50th all-time meeting between the two teams in a series
which Towson leads 27-22. The Tigers have won the last three meetings in the
series by a total of four goals, including last year's 9-8 victory on the
road. Towson will be looking to win its season opener for the third straight
year. Entering this season, the Tigers are 23-26 all-time in season openers,
including a 5-4 record in head coach Tony Seaman's tenure. Towson is 13-15

VILLANOVA (0-1 overall): In the Wildcats' season opener, No. 9 Syracuse used
a fast start to defeat Villanova 21-6, Feb. 17, in front of 4,252 in the
Carrier Dome. Jay Foley scored three goals and added an assist to lead the
Wildcats offensively. Two of his scores came on man-up opportunities,
including a tally at the 9:17 mark of the second quarter to get Villanova on
the scoreboard for the first time. After getting blanked in the first
quarter, the Wildcats netted a pair of goals in the second period, three in
the third quarter and one in the final frame. Villanova totaled 28 ground
balls and was 2-of-8 playing one-man up against the Orange. The three goals

Driscoll added two scores for the Wildcats while Tim Langan, Jr. accounted
for the final tally. Langan also had an assist and Chris Aitken dished out
two helpers in his collegiate debut. Andrew DiLoreto and Mike Bogdanor split

three quarters. He made seven saves while surrendering 18 goals and Bogdanor
