Canisius' Jones Earns Preseason All-America Honors

Sophomore midfielder Adam Jones (Owen Sound, Ontario) of the Canisius College men’s lacrosse team has been named a preseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse. Jones, who received honorable mention to the team, was recognized in the publication’s annual Face-Off Yearbook.

During his rookie season, Jones became the first Griff to garner All-America honors, leading Canisius to its first MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance. He was also named to the All-MAAC First Team and picked up all-tournament honors during the conference’s championship.

One of three freshmen in the country to be named an All-American last season, Jones posted a team-best 47 points and 38 goals to go along with nine assists. He led the MAAC and finished 14th nationally with 2.38 goals per game, which was also the highest mark by any midfielder nationally.

The Owen Sound, Ontario-native added to his resume during the summer of 2008. Jones was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2008 ILF U-19 World Championship and then helped the Orangeville Northmen to the 2008 Minto Cup.

Jones was a key member of the most successful team in the program’s history last year. Canisius won a school-record 10 games during the 2008 season, advancing to its first-ever NCAA Tournament after winning its first MAAC Championship.
