WORCESTER, Mass. – The Holy Cross men’s lacrosse team has been selected to receive the 2008 James “Ace” Adams Award for District 1. This award is voted on by all active collegiate lacrosse officials in the six New England states (District 1) and is awarded through the Collegiate Officials Committee via the U.S. Lacrosse Men’s Division Officials Council.
The selection was based upon Holy Cross’ sportsmanship of the coaching staff, lacrosse team, administration and fans, in addition to facilities available to the officials and treatment of the officials prior to, during and after games. The award is named after former Army and Virginia head coach and national Lacrosse Hall of Fame member James “Ace” Adams, who was renowned for both his positive sideline demeanor as well as the exceptional character which his teams displayed.
