CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Brown sophomore attackman Andrew Feinberg (Owing Mills, Md.) led the
Bears to two victories over Quinnipiac on Friday and No. 18 Denver on
Sunday. Feinberg netted three goals in a 7-3 win over Quinnipiac and
came back with another hat-trick in the Bears' thrilling 12-11 win
over Denver, while adding three assists. For the week, he registered
six goals and three assists, and leads 3-1 Brown with 12 goals in
four games.
Princeton junior midfielder Paul Barnes (Haverford, Pa.) won 20-of-25
face-offs (80 percent) in two wins this week for the Tigers. Barnes
was 13-for-15 against No. 8 UMBC, including winning a huge face-off
with 57 seconds remaining after UMBC cut the lead to one at 6-5.
Princeton killed off all but the final seven seconds and did not
allow UMBC another possession in the Tiger end. He won the first 11
face-offs of the game, including every face-off during a 5-0 third
quarter run that enabled Princeton to take control of the game.
Against Manhattan, Barnes won 7-of-10 face-offs.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Princeton freshman goalie Tyler Fiorito (Phoenix, Md.) made 10 saves
while allowing five goals against No. 8 UMBC. He made five saves
during second quarter to keep the Tigers within one at halftime
(2-1). Against Manhattan, he made two saves while allowing one goal
in eight minutes.
HONOR ROLL
Cornell junior Ryan Hurley (Eagan, Minn.) led the No. 4 Big Red in
scoring as it fell to No. 1 Virginia, 14-10, on Sunday afternoon. The
attackman registered four goals, on just seven shots, and picked up
two ground balls.
Dartmouth senior captain Tim Daniels (Duxbury, Mass.) provided the
offense with three goals and three assists, while picking up a team-
high five ground balls. He led the team with four points in the 11-9
loss at Vermont on Tuesday with a two goals and two assists. He
followed that with two points against Lehigh in another 11-9 loss on
Saturday. Daniels posted a goal and an assist in the defeat.
Harvard sophomore Dean Gibbons (Garden City, N.Y.) tallied two of the
Crimson's three goals Saturday against No. 17 UMass. With Harvard
down 2-0 in the first quarter against the Minutemen, Gibbons got
Harvard on the scoreboard late in the first quarter on an unassisted
goal. Gibbons added a man-up goal later in the game, coming midway
through the third quarter.
Penn senior attack Craig Andrzejewski (Parkton, Md.) scored two goals
and had an assist to lead the Quakers with three points Friday
against Denver.
Yale junior attack Brendan Gibson (Point Lookout, N.Y.) had four
goals and an assist in the Bulldogs' loss at No. 9 Duke. He
registered another hat trick earlier in the week, with three goals in
a win over Providence.
Cornell freshman Rob Pannell (Smithtown, N.Y. ) single-handedly kept
the No. 4 Big Red in the game against No. 1 Virginia, as Cornell fell
to the Cavaliers, 14-10, on Sunday. Pannell scored twice and handed
out four assists for a game-high six points on the day. He had a hand
in five of the Big Red’s first seven goals as Cornell took a 7-6
lead into half time and his final goal of the day pulled the visitors
within one, 9-8, with 1:41 remaining in the third quarter. His four
helpers on the afternoon tie his own Cornell record for assists in a
single-game by a freshman.
