Army
Army opened the 2008 campaign with a 16-3 win over VMI on Saturday. The three goals allowed were the fewest in a season opener since Army defeated RIT, 10-3, on March 4, 1988. Senior Justin Bokmeyer tied his career high with five goals and six points in the victory. Junior Jason Peyer scored four goals, and junior Brooks Korvin added two goals and an assist as the Black Knights' starting attack unit accounted for 11 goals and two assists. Freshman Rob McCallion compiled three goals and an assist in his first appearance for the Black Knights, while classmate Jeremy Boltus was credited with a goal and five assists in his first collegiate game. Army will return to action Sunday at Syracuse.

Bucknell
Bucknell dropped its season opener to No. 2 Duke on Saturday. Sophomore Austin Winter had a goal and an assist for the Bison, while sophomore Tim Brandau, junior Joe Mele and senior Nick Marks also found the net. Freshman Ryan Klipstein picked up his first career assist on Brandau's goal. Bucknell is back in action next Saturday, taking on former Patriot League rival Hobart at Boys' Latin High School in Baltimore. It will be a homecoming for Bucknell's Evan Burns and Alex Lyons, both graduates of Boys' Latin.

Colgate
Colgate opened the season with a 15-5 loss at 20th-ranked Denver. Junior attacker Brandon Corp led the Raiders with five points from three goals and two assists. That pushed his scoring streak to 17 games. Junior Kevin Colleluori added the other two goals for the Raiders. Sophomore goaltender Tim Harrington made a career-high 24 saves in the setback. Colgate returns to action on Sunday, traveling to play Ohio State.

Holy Cross
Holy Cross kicked off the season with a 7-5 win at St. John's on Saturday. The Crusaders have now won two straight season openers as they defeated Hartford last year by a score of 10-8 on Feb. 20 in Worcester, Mass. Senior Toby Banta scored two goals, including the game winner. He also added one assist to lead the team with three points. Junior Luke Marchand scored two goals, while sophomores Edison Parzanese and Chris Smirti each had one goal and one assist. Freshman Matt Moran scored his first collegiate goal. Junior goalie Jimmy Harrison made 10 saves to earn the victory. Up next for Holy Cross is a Saturday afternoon game at Yale.

Lafayette
Lafayette will begin the 2008 season on Friday afternoon at Villanova.

Lehigh
Lehigh won its first season opener since 2003 with a 7-5 victory at Saint Joseph's on Saturday. The win was the first for Head Coach Kevin Cassese. Junior Matt Diehl led the Mountain Hawks with three goals. Diehl scored the first two goals of game, including the first one 14 seconds into play. His third goal tied the game at three right before halftime. Junior Ricky Cornetta's goal with 6:18 left to play proved to be the game winner, breaking a 5-5 tie. Senior goalie Eric Spirko stopped ten shots. He allowed just two goals in the second half and kept the Hawks off the scoreboard in the final 10 minutes. Lehigh will play at Brown on Saturday.

Navy
Navy has started off the year 2-0 with wins over VMI and Ohio State (in overtime). Eleven different players have accounted for Navy's 18 goals this spring with Tim Paul leading the way with four - two in each game. Junior Michael Beggins' first collegiate goal came just two minutes into overtime to lead the Mids to an 8-7 victory at Ohio State. Beggins had played in just six games entering his junior campaign. Having played just 13 minutes in his first two seasons, junior Matt Coughlin made his first collegiate start in the Mids' season opener against VMI where he warded off seven shots on goal and surrendered just two goals in earning his first win as a goalie. Coughlin followed that up by making a crucial save in the fourth quarter of the Mids' victory over Ohio State where he earned his second win of the year. Navy will play No. 6 Cornell this Saturday in Uniondale, N.Y.
