Stony Brook, N.Y. (Dec. 16, 2008) – A pair of Stony Brook University men’s lacrosse players have been chosen as preseason All-Americans for 2009 by Inside Lacrosse magazine, the publication announced Monday. Sophomore Jordan McBride (New Westminster, B.C.) was named to the third team while honorable mention honors went to fellow sophomore Kevin Crowley (New Westminster, B.C).
Both players made instant impacts last season as freshmen, finishing 1-2 on the team in scoring. McBride led Stony Brook with 44 goals, including a school record 10 at Delaware, and finished third in the nation in goals per game with his 3.93 average. An honorable mention All-American in 2008, McBride was named the America East Freshman of the Year as well as a first team all-conference pick.
Also a first team All-America East selection last season, Crowley totaled 22 goals and 26 assists for the Seawolves in 2008 to finish second on the team with 48 points. He scored at least one point in every game but one and finished 10th in the nation in assists per game at 1.86. This past summer he represented Canada at the U-19 Men’s Lacrosse World Championships, helping the team to a second-place finish and earning All-World honors after scoring 11 goals.
