PETE COLEMAN JOINS SU LACROSSE TEAM

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Attackman Pete Coleman (Madison, N.J.) has joined the Orange men’s lacrosse team head coach John Desko announced today. Coleman comes to Syracuse after spending the fall at Navy Prep. He is considered a freshman and will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Coleman was a scholastic standout at Chatham High School in New Jersey and was ranked as the 36th-best prospect in this year’s freshman class by Inside Lacrosse. Coleman is the school’s all-time leader with 280 career points (167g, 113a). He scored 48 goals as a senior.

A two-time U.S. Lacrosse All-American, Coleman was tabbed the Star-Ledger Player of the Year and the Daily Record Player of the Year in 2008 after helping Chatham to a 19-2 record. He also represented the East squad at the National Senior Showcase in Chicago.

Coleman and the Orange begin spring practice on Thursday, Jan. 8 in preparation for the 2009 season. The Orange starts the year with scrimmages against Hofstra and Le Moyne on Thursday, Jan. 29 at the Carrier Dome. The team opens the regular season at home on Sunday, Feb. 15 versus Providence.
